Ice House

A house made of weather

Keep moving.
Stand still and the cold moves in.

An igloo sits on a frozen ridge in blowing snow.

02 Whiteout

Go closer.
The weather is
part of the door.

The camera pushes into a whiteout.

03 Keepsakes · 3 recovered

Three things
the ice decided to keep.

Three artifacts rise out of the fog.

  • Compass. It stopped pointing north the night the ice arrived. Now it points down, at the ring.
  • Seed. Meant for a spring that never came, it waits the way only seeds can: one green thought against the cold.
  • Star fragment. A splinter of star that fell too slowly to burn. It still remembers the long dark.

04 The ring · alignment 0/8

Older than
the snow.

A stone ring stands in the snow. Its arcs turn and lock into alignment.

The ring's grooves ignite, and the camera falls through it into space.

06 Far side · no known stars

The cold came
with you.

A night plain under a ringed planet. A saucer comes down and lands.

06 Far side · contact

Now you are
the strange thing
in the snow.

An alien stands on a pedestal.

Keep going. The light runs both ways.

Then a beam of light carries you back into the snow, to the ridge where you started.

Ice House / Manifesto

We keep what the cold remembers.

Somewhere above the tree line there is a house made of weather. It is built from the same snow that is trying to bury it, and it stands because someone kept placing one block against the next.

We think of it as a doorway. Go far enough inside anything frozen and you find it was waiting: a compass that gave up on north, a seed holding its breath, a piece of a star.

Move, and the world moves with you. Stop, and the frost begins its patient work on the glass.
